Welcome to Our Integrated Behavioral Health Team

What to Expect at Your Visit

We are so glad you are here! Our integrated behavioral health team works alongside your child's primary care provider to support emotional, behavioral, and family well-being as part of overall care. This page is designed to help parents, caregivers, and kids know what to expect before the first visit and answer common questions that often come up.

About Integrated Behavioral Health

Integrated Behavioral Health means emotional and behavioral support is part of your child’s regular medical care. Our team works closely with your primary care provider so care feels familiar, connected, and easy to access.

We support kids and teens with:

Big feelings and emotions

Stress, worries, or mood changes

School or peer challenges

Life transitions and family changes

Building coping skills and confidence

Meet the Behavioral Health Team

Our team includes licensed therapists, counselors, and behavioral health clinicians who are experienced in working with children, teens, and families. Your child’s provider will take time to get to know your child, listen to your concerns, and tailor support to what matters most to your family.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

The first visit is mostly about getting to know each other! It is a relaxed conversation and a chance to:

  • Talk about what brought your family in
  • Learn about your child’s strengths and challenges
  • Ask questions
  • Talk through goals and next steps

There is no pressure to share everything right away! Your child can go at their own pace. Initial appointments typically last about 50 - 60 minutes, while follow up appointments last 40-45 minutes.

Where Appointments Take Place

Some visits may be in person, while others may be offered virtually. In person visits will take place at your usual office - please see a full list of locations here.

Depending on your child's needs, we may also offer some sessions virtually! For virtual visits, it helps to:

  • Choose a quiet, private space
  • Test your device and internet connection ahead of time
  • Use headphones if possible for extra privacy

How to Help Your Child Prepare

There is nothing special your child needs to prepare! Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind:

  • Let your child know this is a safe space to talk
  • Remind them there are no right or wrong answers
  • Encourage them to be themselves
  • Write down questions or concerns if helpful

How Families Participate in Care

This can look different for each child or teen:

  • Some visits may be one-on-one with the child or teen
  • Some visits may include a parent or caregiver
  • Sometimes the visit may start together and then continue separately

Your provider will explain what makes sense for this visit and will always focus on helping your child or teen feel comfortable, respected, and supported.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Visits are private and confidential! This helps to create a safe space for kids, teens, and parents/caregivers to talk openly. Information may be shared within the care team only when needed to support care and will always follow privacy laws. Your provider will explain privacy and confidentiality in more detail at your first visit.
